^The Border Legion has tried it's hardest to re-assemble on such short notice, but hasn't reached
^it's full capacity. But there is no more time left, scouts have reported to Balinor that the
^Northland army is camped along the Mermidon River. Balinor reviews his strategies and options
^with his generals.
^BALINOR: "Scouts have reported that the army marches from the western direction. It seems
^the enemy is preparing their initial assualt to consist of masses of Gnome and Troll infantry. They
^expect us to man the Outer Walls, where they will overwhelm us and we will evacuate the
^suburbs and retreat into the main city itself. Then they will launch a second attack consisting of
^Rock Trolls, Archers, and their siege equipment. We have the choice of staking our legions on
^the Outer Wall or in the city interior. The advantages of the defending the Outer Wall is that we
^will keep the enemy out of the suburbs which will allow us to continue to assemble the Border
^Legion while we fight. When the wall is breached, then can retreat back into the city. The
^disadvantage is that our forces will be spread out thin and the ground isn't as good for defense as
^the city. The advantage of defending from the city is that our forces will be consolidated and it is
^better ground. The disadvantage is that the enemy will occupy the suburbs and we will not be
^able to continue assembling our Legions at a fast rate. We must keep in mind that Archers and
^Battering Rams negate our city walls, but not the Outer Wall. Beware of their Siege Towers,
^which have excellent defense. Take extra caution around Rock Trolls because they are the finest
^fighters in the Four Lands..."

^MENION: "What are they up to?"

^that madman running loose somewhere in the city."
^DAYEL: "We almost had him..."
^HENDLE: "Shades! I've been a fool! A secret passageway that leads through the mountains to
^the plain beyond. The old King spoke of it once to me, years and years ago. Stenmin must know
^of it!"
^The four men run off into the castle. The reach the cellar where they find the room filled with
^Stenmin and his guards!

^^Meanwhile, Shea is facing troubles of his own...
^After falling off the cliff and into the Rabb River, he was washed upstream until he was picked
^up by a Gnome Patrol. The Gnomes thought it strange to find a Southlander so far up North in
^the Four lands, and the mysetrious Blue Stones that Shea carried seemed to confuse them
^further. Therefore, the Patrol decided it would be best to escort their prisoner to the Northland
^and hand him over to their superiors.
^The Patrol had made it to the end of the Janisson Pass. One night, after they pitched camp,
^Shea was awaken by the sound of footsteps. He saw two figures walking about; a Southland
^man and a gigantic Rock Troll. The Southlander motioned to Shea to keep quiet. A moment
^later, he and the Rock Troll pounced upon the sleeping Gnomes and slaughtered them all before
^they had a chance to fight back.
^SHEA: "I want to thank-you..."
^PANAMON: "Quite alright! I'm from the Southland myself you know. The name's Panamon
^Creel. I have traveled the lands greatly after leaving the South. This here is Keltset, an
^overgrown Rock Troll. We've been together for almost two years now and I never had a
^better friend, although I could have wished for a more talkative one, perhaps. Keltset is mute.
^Tell me, what are you doing in these parts?"

^Gnomes. Shea was not ready to trust these strangers with the truth.
^PANAMON: "Well, I doubt that you have told me the whole truth. But I can't blame you. If I
^were in your place, I wouldn't tell me everything either. There will be time enough for the truth
^later."
^Keltset searches the dead Gnomes, finds the Elfstones, and gives them to Panamon.
^SHEA: "They belong to me. The pouch and the stones are mine. They were... given to me by my
^father. I carry them everywhere- a sort of good-luck piece. The Gnomes took them away from
^me, but they are mine."
^PANAMON: "Are they now? I don't see your name on the pouch. How am I to be sure these
^belong to you? I'll just have to hold onto them until I'm sure."
^SHEA: "Panaon Creel, the kind rescuer! You and your friend are nothing but thieves, robbers,
^highwaymen! It was the stones you were after all along! How low can you be..."
^PANAMON: "Watch your tongue, youngster! What you may think of us had best be kept to
^yourself. I've come a long way in this world, and no one has ever given me anything! Since this is
^so, I let no man take anything away! I will keep the stones, and I will consider it payment for
^saving your life. You may return to the Southland anytime you wish."
^Shea decides to stick around and follow Panamon, until he gets the chance to retrieve the stones
^and head towards Paranor.

^They moved closer and Panamon recognized the Gnome standards immediately and their
^gnarled yellow bodies. But upon closer examination, he found the the opposing for had been
^composed of Elven warriors.
^PANAMON: "We've got real trouble here, friend Shea. That standard is the banner of the royal
^Elven house of Elessedil- the personal staff of Eventine. I can't find his body among the dead,
^but that doesn't make me feel any easier. If anything has happened to the Elven king, it could
^start a war of unbelievable proportions. The whole country could go up in smoke!"
^SHEA: "Eventine!  He was guarding the northern borders of Paranor in case..."
^PANAMON: "It doesn't make any sense- the Gnomes and Elves fighting out here in the middle
^of nowhere. What would bring Eventine this far away from his own land? They must have been
^fighting for something. I can't under.... wait a minute. What did you just say about Eventine?"
^SHEA: "Nothing. I didn't say..."
^PANAMON: "Don't try to be clever, little man! You know something about all of this- now
^talk. All along I've suspected you knew a lot more than you were telling about those stones and
^the reason those Gnomes bothered to take you prisoner. Now your time for fooling around is
^over. Out with it!"

^PANAMON: "Whatever manner of creature you might be, keep your distance. My concern is
^with this man alone, and not..."
^SKULL BEARER: "Where is the Sword, mortal?! I can sense its presence. Give it to me! It is
^useless to deny you have it! I know it is here among you, and I must have it. It is useless to fight
^me. The battle is over for you. The last heir to the Sword has long since been taken and
^destroyed...."
^Just then the creatures eyes went wide in astonishment and it yelled "Keltset!" The mute giant
^launched itself at the Skull Bearer. Panamon Creel leaped to his friend's aid but was knocked
^down by the dark being. Shea, desperate to do something, ran over to the fallen thief.
^SHEA: "The stone! Give me the stones, and I can help!"
^Panamon Creel ignores the Valeman and attacks again, but is repusled. Shea grabs the stones
^before Panamon can do anything...

^Shea tells Panamon not to kill the Gnome. Instead they search his bags and find a couple of junk
^swords. Orl Fane tells them that the Sword is near Paranor. So they march in that direction. At
^night, they bind him in ropes. But in the mourning, he is gone...
^PANAMON: "Blasted little son of a bitch! He gnawed through the ropes at night! And look at
^this, he even took one of his junk swords! The one with the hand holding the tourch on the
^handle. So he took one sword. That doesn't mean he... Oh, no! That can't be-it can't! You
^mean, he has...."
^SHEA: "The Sword of Shannara!"
^PANAMON: "The Gnome's tracks lead northward. AFTER HIM!"

^offer. At last they track him down into the Skull Mountain itself. Pananomn Creel finds the the
^wretched Gnome and begins to beat on him with incredible fury. At last the Gnome drops the
^Sword, and Shea picks it up. Then, the figure of the Warlock Lord appears. In a single
^smooth, silent motion, Shea slides the ancient blad free from its battered sheath. The Valeman
^enters into a trance and his brain is under attack. His mind is flooded with memories,
^thoughts, emotions, judgments, and motivations that make up his character. He recalls every
^hurt he had caused to others, every petty jealousy he had felt, his prejudices, his self-pity, his
^fears, his lies. He had fled the Vale, not to save and protect family and friends, but in fear for his
^pathetic life. The images continued to flood him, to show the real Shea Ohmsford. He is
^barely able to keep his mind when he looks at the Sword. It was flaming wildly. Shea suddenly
^realizes the secret of the Sword. The Sword of Shannara possesses the power to reveal Truth-
^to force the man who holds it to recognize the truth about himself. No wonder Allanon had never
^revealed the secret of the Sword. What kind of weapon was this against the incredible power of
^the Warlock Lord? The Sword's legendary power is a lie!

^BRONA: "LAY DOWN THE SWORD, MORTAL CREATURE!"
^Shea is just about to obey when the voice of Allanon breaks through.
^ALLANON: "Shea! Have courage. Trust the Sword. Believe in the Sword, Shea. All else is
^illusion..."
^The Warlock Lord screams at the realization that Allanon has contact Shea through telepathy.
^Brona uses his magic and commands the fallen Orl Fane to attack Shea.. The Gnome rushes the
^tiny Valeman, loses the grib of Shea's sword and falls to the floor. Shea realized that Orl Fane is
^dead, and has been killed by the Truth of the Sword of Shannara. The Truth of his life was too
^much for the Gnome to bear. This is why the Warlock Lord made no advances on him! Only the
^heir of Shannara can withstand the Truth that the Sword holds! Shea takes the Sword, and
^gracefully presses it into the evil known as the Warlock Lord.

^illusion. He had cheated his own death and held his lifelss body together to achieve the
^immortality that had escaped him. But now, the Sword faced him to accept what he truly was- a
^decayed, lifeless shell sustained only by a misconceived belief in his own reality- a sham, a
^fantasy created by force of will alone, as ephemeral as the physical being he had made himself
^appear. He was a lie, and truth left the lie known as the Warlock Lord exposed.
^But the mountain begins to shake, and Shea runs for his life. He never sees what happens to
^Panamon Creel or Keltset...
^At the same time in the city of Tyrsis, the long, terrible struggle between earth-born mortal and
^spirit creature peaks with shocking suddenness. The earth begins to rumble and tremors rip
^the earth apart. On the Bridge of Sendic, the advancing Trolls halt and glance uneasily about,
^wondering what they were doing in such a strange place. The spell of the Warlord Lord had
^over them was broken. They have no idea what they were in the middle of a battle, and just flat

^Shea travels to Tyrsis where he meets up with his companions. Durin and Dayle had both been
^part of the wounded in the battle. Dayel would end up returning to Beleal, where he woul be
^reunited with his beloved bride. Durin would follow him and keep a watchfull eye over his young
^brother. Balinor became King of Tyrsis and would spend the his entire reign rebuilding the city
^from the descrution of the war. Hendel died bravely in the fighting. He was the one who figured
